Q: Finley River Kids Tri: I am seeing "FR5T" places. What is that?
A: "FR5T" stands for Finley River 5 and Tri.
Q: Is the Triathlon Bike Course Open or Closed? Is It Safe?
A: Our bike course is an open course on some windy and well paved country roads with little to no traffic. The City of Ozark Police Department has assisted us in creating the safest course possible.
Q: Can An Athlete Under the Age of 13 Race The Regular Sprint Triathlon?
A: OF COURSE! As long as they are capable. Parents should feel free to reach out to our Race Director to help determine if the course is suitable for their youth. You can do this by visiting the CONTACT page and filling out our simple form. Our Race Director will get in touch with you as soon as possible.
Q: Why is Your Entry Fee Less Expensive Than Other Premier Races?
A: We believe that EVERYONE who wants to participate in athletic events should have the opportunity to do so. For this reason we have taken every possible action to keep our racing fees as low as possible AND still produce an incredible event.
Q: How Will the Swim Leg of The Triathlon Work?
A: Snake Swim: Down the lane on the right, back on the left, under the lane line, and repeat.
Q: Do I need to wear a helmet on the bike portion of the Triathlon?
A: ABSOLUTELY. Safety is our number one priority. When coming out of the water and into transition, racers must secure their helmet on their head and buckle the chin strap BEFORE leaving transition. When returning to transition, racers must only unstrap the helmet once their bike has be securely racked on the bike rack.
Q: When Do I Wear My Bib Number for the Triathlon and 5k?
A: You will be marked on your arms and legs with your race number for the swim portion. Following the swim leg you must have your paper bib attached to your body either by a race belt or on a shirt/top during the bike and run.
Q: How Does Passing On the Bike Portion of the Triathlon Work?
A: Be safe. Only pass on the left. Try to pass within 15 seconds and don't follow another racer too closely.
Q: How Should I Flow Through Transition?
A: All racers, both experienced and beginners, are encouraged to enter and exit transition in a mindful manner. Please be aware of your surroundings; be respectful for those moving faster and slower than you. Enter and exit through designated pathways. Racers should only mount/dismount after crossing the mount/dismount line.
Q: How Do You Keep Your Course So Clean?
A: We rely heavily on VOLUNTEERS to help us prep and clean up after our races. PLEASE DO NOT THROW TRASH ON THE GROUND! Throwing things on the course is only acceptable near the water stations on the RUN portion of the race. Our incredible volunteers are ready and willing to continually pick up these cups as racers are passing through.
Q: Can I Wear Headphones While I Swim, Bike, or Run?
A: No. Headphones, both wireless and not, are not allowed during the race for safety purposes.
Q: Can I Bike or Run Alongside My Child Competing In the Finley River Youth Tri?
A: If you would prefer to stay with your child during the Bike/Run portions of the Triathlon, it is an open course so we will allow it. However, you may not in ANY WAY impede the process of another athlete whether you mean to or not. Volunteers and/or staff have the right to remove you from the course if any such actions are noticed. Also, pacing a child is NOT allowed.
